Backend
Eight years of Java, from version 7 to 21, with Spring Boot, Quarkus and Hibernate. I build REST and SOAP APIs and microservices, and I profile and tune SQL queries so things respond faster.
Backend engineer in Amsterdam. I write the Java that keeps things running while you sleep, and the jokes that keep standups alive. Eight years in, still with Kiwi on my lap and a null check in my heart. Open to new roles and freelance projects.

Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Dataflow), Azure, Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform. I automate builds and deployments with GitHub Actions and Jenkins, and I care about the logs and alerts that make incidents quicker to solve.
When a project needs it, I work across the stack: JavaScript and Angular on the front-end, plus Python and PHP. I test with JUnit, Postman and Bruno, and I have built full-stack products for startups as a freelancer.
I am a backend engineer who cares about more than the code itself. I care how fast a pipeline runs, how quickly someone is alerted when something breaks, and whether the next person can pick up my work without a headache. Good software is a team effort, and I like being the person who makes that easier.
That mindset has shown up in different places: cutting a CI/CD pipeline from 23 to 16 minutes, adding structured logging and Splunk alerts so incidents were handled faster, and redesigning the interface and APIs of a document validation app in a week so users needed fewer steps. I have also taught object-oriented programming at university, spoken at TEDx about being proactive in software roles, and mentored students while building software for real needs, like bus scheduling and children's literacy.
I have worked across banking, retail, pensions and legal tech, in two countries and several stacks. A new domain or codebase does not slow me down for long.
Currently learning Dutch, one ‘gezellig’ at a time.Code that runs in production, not only on my machine. Pipelines, logging and alerts are part of the job, so problems are found early and fixed fast.
Ships on time. Puns are exempt from deadlines.I work with product owners on requirements and honest estimates, and I like explaining things. Pairing, documenting or training the team on a new tool is all part of it.
I bring ideas, questions and, on good days, snacks.
